The First-Aid Kit at Home

It is very important to have a well-stocked first aid kit in our home especially with small kids, so that we can deal with minor accidents and injuries without getting panicked. The first aid kit should be locked and kept in a cool, dry place out of the reach of children.

In fact we can make 2 first-aid kits, smaller one for the car and the bigger one for home.

A basic first aid kit should contain

  • Clinical Thermometer (preferably digital)
  • Elastic or crepe bandage
  • Roll of cotton wool
  • Sling for arm
  • Ice pack
  • Scissors & tweezers
  • AntiColic drops or syrup
  • At least two sterile eye dressings
  • Anti Vomiting medicine eg. Ondem
  • Antiseptic cream
  • Paracetamol (Crocin, Capoll)
  • ORS sachets
  • Cotton bandages
  • Surgical or Adhesive tape & waterproof band-aid strips
  • Sterilized Gauze pads
  • Safety pins
  • A bulb syringe
  • Antiseptic lotions (Savlon, Dettol)
  • Soothing lotion and skin cream (Calamine, Caladryl)
  • Cough medicine (Benadryl)
  • List of important phone numbers eg. Nearest hospitals, Ambulance etc.

All the medicines should be checked regularly to make sure they are within the expiry date.
